Apple Shipping Thunderbolt Displays, Confirms They Will Not Daisy Chain Older Displays

Sunday, September 18th, 2011 | iPhone with No Comments »

Apple’s new Thunderbolt Cinema Displays have finally started shipping to customers and despite all the hoopla over Thunderbolts amazing transfer speeds one giant caveats is irritating customers.

A support document describing compatibility between recently released Macs describes just how many external displays Apple’s computing devices are able to push. The MacBook Air can support one external Thunderbolt display, and the MacBook Pros, iMacs, and Mac Mini can all support two Thunderbolt displays. The highest end Mac Mini with an AMD discrete graphics card can push three displays, View full post on ModMyi.com News Feed

iOS Devs Told They Can’t Upload Apps through iTunes Connect After July 22nd

Late last night, registered iOS developers began receiving email notifications from Apple indicating a big change is coming this Thursday, July 22nd. According to the message, developers can no longer submit or even update their apps (those available in the Apple App Store) through iTunes Connect.

Quote:

Beginning July 22, you will need to use Application Loader to submit your binary to iTunes Connect.

Despite a longstanding preference by Apple to have devs submit and tweak their apps via the online iTunes Connect client, the native Mac application dubbed "Application Loader" shouldn’t present too many obstacles to maintaining business as usual for developers. Of course, the move does strike some as particularly interesting if not arbitrary. But, in the big picture, the shift to app submissions through "Application Loader" should ultimately be well received, given its well known fast upload speeds along with other attributes that outpace iTunes Connect in terms of both stability and functionality.

Quote:

If you have installed iPhone SDK 3.2 or later, you can access Application Loader from the Utilities folder (/Developer/Applications/Utilities/Application Loader.app). You can also download Application Loader from iTunes Connect.

Additionally, "Application Loader" is primed and ready for apps with the "in-app purchase" API, effectively helping developers take full advantage of the newer, more sophisticated components of iOS 4 and the increasingly lucrative opportunities that have been heavily promoted by Apple in recent weeks and months.

Apple Confirms iPhone 4G is Legit And They Want It Back!

We’ll folks. It looks like all of this buzz over the lost and found iPhone 4G prototype is indeed legit. So legit, that Apple has written a letter to Gizmodo demanding the "Stolen" iPhone back.

After countless efforts to get in touch with Apple, Mr. Lam has finally got the claim he was looking for, and has informed Apple that he will hand it over willingly.

While this is very exciting news, one can still speculate what kind of return can be had from such an announcement. At this point in time, I’ll take it as legit. But I’ll also keep an open mind that this could all be a publicity stunt. We’ll see what happens, maybe Gizomodo will video tape an Apple rep coming in to get the iPhone, because quite frankly, I don’t know how else one could prove that Apple has claimed the "iPhone"

The letter from Apple was as follows:

Quote:

"Dear Mr. Lam,

It has come to our attention that GIZMODO is currently in possession of a device that belongs to Apple. This letter constitutes a formal request that you return the device to Apple. Please let me know where to pick up the unit.

Sincerly,
Bruce Sewell
Senior Vice President & General Counsel"

Here was the reply that Brian wrote back:

Quote:

Bruce, thanks.
Here’s Jason Chen, who has the iPhone. And here’s his address. You two should coordinate a time.
[Blah Blah Blah Address]
Happy to have you pick this thing up. Was burning a hole in our pockets. Just so you know, we didn’t know this was stolen [as they might have claimed. meaning, real and truly from Apple. It was found, and to be of unproven origin] when we bought it. Now that we definitely know it’s not some knockoff, and it really is Apple’s, I’m happy to see it returned to its rightful owner.
P.S. I hope you take it easy on the kid who lost it. I don’t think he loves anything more than Apple.
And since this was the only missing piece of the puzzle, we have now both extinguished any doubts of its origin but also, we get to give the phone back. *warm, fuzzy, huggy feelings of legal compliance*

California law states, "If it is lost, the owner has three years to reclaim or title passes to the owner of the premises where the property was found. The person who found it had the duty to report it."
